Network (1976) - AFI Top 100 #64

Jenny -RATING 4/5
Drama, humor and a bit of truth to it all, Network was an awesome two hours of entertainment about the world of television, reality tv and news. Faye Dunaway plays an awesomely strong woman in a man's world of television 70's. Acting was superb, story was great. I can see why this is one of the Top 100 AFI films. Excellent. I saw this when I was younger, way younger, but don't remember lots of it. Can appreciate it more now as an adult.

Elisabeth - RATING: 4/5
Great movie. It is always interesting to see how things were done back in the day of TV Networks. It really gives you an understanding of how it all meshes together, where ideas come from and what it takes to get the ever-elusive top rating. Everything about this movie was spot on and I honestly don't think I would change anything other than the "love" story between the two people...that just wasn't necessary, but it gave us insight into a modern vs old-school way of thinking about things. What was funny, was when they were playing the Life commercial at the end, Jenny and I could quote the entire thing as they played it...and well...the whole movie just made its point.

Bonnie and Clyde (1967) #42 of AFI Top 100

Elisabeth - RATING: 4/5

I have always liked this movie. Even after not seeing this after 15-20 years after the first time I have seen it, I still really like this movie. The acting was excellent and Faye Dunaway was so hot. Movies just aren't made like this anymore, and I kind of miss that sometimes after seeing a movie like this.

Jenny - RATING: 4/5
I agree with Elisabeth on this one, the acting was spot on. There was humor, drama, and history in this movie and these two actors really brought it to life. I do have to say Estelle Parsons still annoyed me outside of Roseanne (TV Show). I don't have anything bad to say about it except for Ms. Parsons. :p

AFI Top 100 #92 - Goodfellas (1990)

Jenny - RATING: 3/5
While this movie was good, it wasn't my favorite mob movie. Thinking about Pesci and DeNiro, I felt Casino was a lot more enjoyable. My thoughts on this movie are very minimal, its wasn't that good or that bad... and again, like all movies with Joe Pesci, he annoys the hell out of me.

Elisabeth - RATING 3/5
This was a decent movie. Not my favorite Scorsese movie, but good. I am just not a fan of mob movies. I can see why a lot of people love this movie. I personally know 3 people who consider this movie to be one of their favorite movies of all time. Not me...but that doesn't mean it was bad. Just not my thing.

AFI Top 100 #34 - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

Elisabeth RATING: 4/5

I have probably seen this movie a hundred times over the years. I know all the songs, I know all the words, and yet I can continue to watch it and like it. The blu-ray made everything so clear and the commentary is very enlightening with Walt's own words. A master of what animation could be, Disney was a genius in giving us a new form of feature film with this one, and I can see why it continues to be a classic. That...is a feat in and of itself.

Jenny - RATING: 3/5
For our first AFI Top 100, we watched Snow White, which might have been brilliant in its time but really its not Disney's best. There was a lot of movie that was a break through in animated film making and watching the blu-ray with Walt's commentary makes you realize how much truly went into making this film. For me, I thought the movie itself was very slow moving doesn't hold me or capture me but does have an awesome villain.

The AFI Top 100 Movie List Project

http://www.afi.com/100years/movies10.aspx

The list...the best of what Hollywood has to offer from a long and historical line of movie making for 100+ years.

The plan...to watch every single movie from the list in order from 100-1.

I was contemplating upping some of my classic movie watching when an idea struck me. There are so many movies out there, wouldn't it be easier to go off of some kind of list? Make my life a little bit easier? Then I thought about the AFI Top 100 List. So why not watch everything on the list? Sure, I have seen probably more than half of them, but let's see if they truly stand the test of time as the greatest movies ever made.

This will be a project. We will have to watch approximately 14 movies a month off of the list which is really no big deal since we watch 40-70 movies a month as it is. Jenny said she wants to be involved as well, so this should be really interesting because she will end up having to watch some movies she really doesn't want to watch and me as well.

NOTE: After much research and perusing, I have decided not to do these in order since watching 3+ hour movies during the week is not my idea of fun, and I really want to watch these movies. We will be skipping around based on availability of movies as well. You wouldn't even believe how hard it is to find some of these movies.
